The Turkish technical consumer goods market rose in Q3 2016, compared to the same quarter in 2015
Sales in the technical consumer goods (TCG) market in Turkey increased by 10.7 percent in Q3 2016, compared to Q3 2015.
The major domestic appliances (MDA) and small domestic appliances (SDA) sectors performed well – up by 24.5 percent and 17.5 percent,respectively.

Q3 2016 was a stable period in the CE sector. There was a marginal fall of 0.1 percent, compared to the same quarter in 2015.
The sector’s largest segment – panel TVs – rose by 0.5 percent, due to increased demand for models with large screens (55 inches and above),and for ultra-high definition (UHD).The docking/mini speakers segment was the star performer in Q3 2016 – up by 57.4 percent.

Another disappointing quarter in the PH market with a fall of 18.6 percent, compared to Q3 2015. The digital cameras segment – the sector’s largest – fell by 18.3 percent.
Major Domestic Appliances
In the third quarter of 2016, the MDA sector registered a healthy rise – up by 24.5 percent, compared to 2015’s Q3.
All product groups saw double-digit growth with the cooling products, upright freezers, dishwashers, and washing machines (9kg) segments providing the impetus.
Small Domestic Appliances
The SDA sector reported a rise of 17.5 percent in Q3 2016, compared to the same quarter in 2015. Sales of shavers, hot beverage makers, and vacuum cleaners helped this result the most, rising by 55.9 percent, 27.2 percent and 16.8 percent, respectively. Increased demand was also seen in the intense pulsed light (IPL), and Turkish coffee machines segments.
Information Technology
A decline of 7.9 percent was registered in the Turkish IT sector in the third quarter of 2016, compared to Q3 2015. Falls of 5.6 percent and 30.5 percent were noted in the desktop computing products, and mediatablets segments, respectively. Some of the smaller segments – smart monitors, keying devices, and pointing devices – performed well.
Telecommunications
In Q3 2016, the TC sector saw a rise of 7.8 percent, compared to 2015’s third quarter. The market was affected by the recent coup attempt, and by increased taxation. All segments declined, with the exception of the largest one – smartphones – which rose by 8.4 percent.
Office Equipment and Consumables
Turkey’s OE sector contracted by 3.5 percent in Q3 2016, compared to the same quarter of 2015. Multifunctional devices segment was the only one that registered an increase – up by 8.6 percent. Sales of printers and cartridges declined in Q3 2016.
